Krysana Maragh

Krysana Maragh is a first generation, Jamaican American holding an MFA in Film for TV Writing from Columbia University and a BA in Political Science and Media from Emory University. Her work explores the untold stories lurking beneath the surface of Suburban Black life. As the pioneer of a genre she calls Revenge of Suburban Black America, she dissects model minority tropes of black exceptionalism, exposing the quiet rage that births villains. Using dark humor to deliver social critique, Krysana blurs the bounds of right and wrong, bad and good, hero and villain.

A recipient of the Columbia Dean's Grant, official screener for the 2024 Black Girls Rock Film Festival, and a Faculty Select winner for the 2025 Columbia Film Festival. Krysana is dedicated to creating stories that excite, disrupt, and demand to be seen.
